5 Things You Should Know About FYC
1. FYC has been helping the children of Baltimore since 1985, first in the Midway and Barclay neighborhoods, now enrolling children from several other Baltimore neighborhoods.
2. FYC exists to help children form relationships of trust with adults, a positive youth development strategy.
3. We maintain relationships with children after they complete our program, some through college and beyond. We have arranged college and high school scholarships, and we often hire program graduates as Assistant Group Leaders.
4. FYC has formed partnerships with many organizations, including Maryland Institute College of Art, Morgan State University, College of Notre Dame, Greater Homewood Community Corporation, The Family Tree, the Baltimore Youth Orchestra, Parks and People Foundation, Baltimore City Parks and Recreation, the Family League of Baltimore, the Barclay/Midway Old Goucher Coalition, the Waverly and Better Waverly Community Association, Weinberg YMCA, and more to provide programming and services to our children and their families.
5. We only receive 52% of our funding from government sources. We raise the rest through individual donations, corporate and foundation grants, and partnerships with other organizations for in-kind services.
